Power up at HVRM 6-23-12

Greetings!

Arrived at the museum at 9:00 a.m.   Warm day (near 90) with lots of sun although a good breeze and low humidity kept things bearable at least.

Big news was that the 95 ton GE end cab diesel (# 11) was going to be the power for the museum trains for the day.  This is the first revenue runs for the unit, which recently received an FRA waiver for the glass in the cab.

First move made with number 11 was to switch out Long Island commuter coach # 2937 which had a motor failure on the final run on Sunday of last week.  The coach was parked by the Shop where Cory Bennett, Dave Cook and Rich Warner worked on it during the day.

Steve Henrichs, Tim Wills and Joe Baker spent the day working on Grasselli Tower.  Some painting of the outside walls and the inside walls on the second floor, along with a general cleanup, took place.

I spent the day working on miscellaneous projects on passenger coach 899.

At the end of the day, the operating crew of Fred Boyer and Elmer Mannen (in the cab of the GE) and Doug Kosloske (conductor), went over to the C&I and pushed 25 newly arrived storage tank cars off of the interchange track and onto museum property.  This brings the storage cars up to a total of 50.

Finally rolled out of the museum at a bit after 5:00 p.m.

Have a good week everyone!

Les
