HOT at HVRM 6/9/12!

Greetings!

Temps made it into the mid 90's, but low humidity and a good breeze kept things somewhat bearable at Hoosier Valley today.

Storage tank cars had been delivered to the interchange track by the Chesapeake & Indiana.  Twenty five cars, with a few more possible.  This will help the museums bottom line.

Due to a clearance problem, Long Island caboose 58 was pulled out of the display track and moved over near the Shop.

I worked on passenger coach 899 today.   Got the other 3 new primed windows installed.  Also ordered 10 more from Norwayne Lumber.

Steve Newland, Joe Baker, Steve Henricks and Tim Wills were all working on Grasselli Tower today.  Old paint on the interior was scraped off and new primer and light green paint applied to the outside south wall.

When I was at the museum this past Wednesday, I asked Bing Risley if he could use his little Bobcat to put some stone down and make a path from Mulberry Street to the tower and I said I would use a shovel and "smooth" out the stone.  l didn't realize that it would be in the mid-90's though, but a deals a deal.  Bing put the stone down and I got it fairly flat.  Good thing it's a short path!  Cory Bennett came over later in the day and rolled over it with the dual tires on his pickup.  The path looks good and is an invite for visitors to visit the tower.

Mark painted signal boxes, switch throws and various other items around the museum property.

Work continues on the Secretary's office.

After the last passenger run to La Crosse, the operating crew put the train away and then went over to shove the storage tank cars off of the interchange and onto museum trackage.

Long day today.  Arrived at 8 and left at 5 while the operators were just starting their switching work.

Have a good week folks.  Stay cool!
